Following our participation in the Food Innovation Global Mission (FIGM) in 2018, Elizabeth Yorke and Anusha Murthy contributed to the Food Shapers Series — a set of research-driven publications documenting global food innovation trends and future-facing practices in food systems.
These books gather insights from field research across 12 food innovation hubs worldwide, spotlighting pioneers, projects, and ideas shaping the future of food. Each volume dives deep into one aspect of food systems innovation, informed by ethnographic encounters, site visits, and conversations with diverse stakeholders — from tech labs and food entrepreneurs to chefs, farmers, researchers, and policymakers.
Food Shapers Titles Include:
Food Shapers | The Future of Proteins
Food Shapers | Smart AgriFood
Food Shapers | Food for Earth
Food Shapers | The Future of Food Service
These publications reflect on key challenges, innovations, and opportunities in global food systems, offering frameworks, case studies, and tools for food professionals, students, policymakers, and innovators.
Being part of these publications allowed us to contribute to a globally collaborative, knowledge-sharing project, connecting Indian food system conversations with broader, international dialogues on food sustainability, climate action, and innovation. The learnings continue to shape our work in collective food systems conversations and public programming in India.
